Green Man

The Green Man came today 31 March. This is how he looked on the internet.

Elsie (who paints them) said he would not look the same. This is how he looked when he came to me. He is more serious, and not smiling. I would not have believed it possible he could look so different, but she did warn me!

I photographed him in a few different places, to see if his expression changes. He seems to like the drums best! I wonder why!

Although the tree looks bare, and the image somewhat stark at the moment, I have trained a Virginia creeper towards the base of the trunks, and in the tree on the right of the pic, a tendril of honeysuckle can be seen. I have also planted at the back of the tree a climbing hydrangea, so eventually there will be plenty of cover, and the green man's face will emerge from among the greenery. Until then, I have to be patient!

Saturday April 3

Last night I went out late evening to fetch the washing in, everywhere was dark. As I was pulling a sheet off the line, I turned to the left and saw two white eyes staring at me! I laughed so much I fell backwards into the flower bed, but managed to grab the line at the last minute and save myself (and more importantly, the plants!) I looked again when I got back up, but there was nothing. Either he can switch this on and off at will, or I had changed position and something that was reflecting had disappeared. Nothing of him at all was visible in the dark.

This morning I thought he looked kinder, more relaxed, so I took another couple of pics to see if this showed up on camera:
