 the weather
has been too hot to go out during the day, so night walks are the thing.  The roses
are looking good

      | the rose is 'Alchemist'. It is not a
repeat flowerer but has amazing fragrance and a succession of blooms. It
needs regular cutting back as there is no limit to its height
        (apparently)

      | the honeysuckle is advancing well up the arch,
and behind it some white jasmine is also thriving

      | the moon
always looks good over water - check this out in the full size - the
second picture is some of the detail, showing  faint stars above
the Moon, a bright object below and to the right, and then a kind of
'fake moon' far right, which must be an orb. This was actually visible
in the sky, which is not usual with orbs, which only appear on photos,
and its reflection can also be seen in the water

      | the new
building, Walshaw House, on the canal bank just below the allotments. A
handsome building, but why must it be lit up like Neverland?
