Banana Pink Squash

 

A rarely seen winter squash variety in the UK, this is an impressive and reliable producer of huge fruits even in poor UK summers.  The vines have the potential to grow to 20ft in any direction, but are easily contained by turning them back to centre.  Large, pink banana-shaped fruit are produced in abundance and average 15-20lb but can easily grow to 50-60lb (4ft long) during good summers with care.  The fruits are fine flavored, dry with sweet orange flesh and store well in a cool frost free location.

Mixed Leaf Lettuce - 'Mesclun Mix'

 

A mixed salad producing a delicious and colourful blend of salad greens and herbs for a zesty alternative to everyday-salad and the standard variety for all good restaurants. ("mesclun" means "mixture")  Includes a green and red mixture of arugala, spinach, mizuna, and endive. A great addition to liven up plain lettuce and a feast for the eyes and a gourmet treat.   

Wild Rocket

 

The true Rocket, which has a stronger flavour than the cultvated variety, ideal for salads and garnish. Deep green, serrated foliage produced in abundance which should be picked in succession.   Easy to grow. Height 15-20cm (6-8in), prostrate habit.

Indian Corn 'Blue Hopi'

 

An eye catching American Indian vivid blue heirloom flint corn used as a traditional staple of the Hopi Indians in northern Arizona.  The bushy, 5 foot stalks yield 8 to 10 inch ears, with smooth blue kernels.  An excellent choice for making corn flour and the variety of choice to make tortilla chips.   Great for beautiful decorations when dried

Trailing Squash 'Little Gem'

 

Small round cricket ball sized dark green fruit are produced in abundance for harvest in Mid - Aug.  The plant has a trailing habit, which may be trained upwards to maximise space.   Easy to grow & stores well.  Classed as a winter variety.

Lemon Mint 'Monardia Citriodora'

 

A fantastic member of the mint family which has the added benefit of a fantastic display of purple bracts bourne on 2-3ft plants.  Often known as Bee Balm and a magnet for bees and butterflies.  Citrus-flavoured leaves can be minced and added to fruit and jellies, baking and roasts

Runner Bean 'Painted Lady'

 

A stunning and productive popular Heirloom variety 'Painted Lady' known for its attractive bi-coloured flowers and superior flavour.   Tender, relatively short pods are borne in abundance on vigorous 8-10ft vines in around 80 days from germination
